Neck and Back Pain

Neck and back pain are very common problems.  While they interfere with a person’s quality of life, they are usually not life threatening.

Patients with neck or back pain radiating into the arm or leg may have pinched nerves in the neck or back.  These problems usually improve with treatment.

We use a combination of therapies including heat, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, massotherapy, and stretching and strengthening exercises to help our patients.

Medications including muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory, and pain medications are used in combination with our therapy programs.

If a patient is overweight and this is contributing to their back pain we will encourage them to try to lose weight.  We have a dietician and a program aimed at weight reduction.  After their pain has been addressed we will encourage activity to facilitate this goal.  In this way we hope to minimize the risk for recurrent back pain and other problems later in life.
